WhAt does a postpartum doula do?

care for the new parents

The postpartum doula provides physical and emotional support for the new parents; a listening ear, a shoulder to cry on, someone to bring you tea and snacks and help ease your transition into life with a new baby.

general instruction for infant care

The postpartum doula is trained to assist with breastfeeding, positioning of the baby, swaddling and soothing techniques, and infant massage; someone to teach you practical skills and help you feel confident in your own ability to care for your baby.

encouragement and praise

The postpartum doula is the ray of light for the new family, offering words of encouragement and positivity; someone to remind you that you are doing a fantastic job as a parent, no matter the current circumstances.
